Two weeks ago, I was invited to give a talk about Conscious Leadership in the Conscious Week Summit, organised by The School For Change.
When preparing for it, I pulled my notes from a previous talk I gave a few years ago for HUERTA Coworking and then for the Women in Leadership team at Merck Group, on the same subject matter.
Back then, I had structured the talk around three main concepts, and their correlations.
This time though, I decided to change my approach and take it a step back. The thing is, we can only grasp and do the above if we understand the two simple principles that make a Leader a Conscious One.
A Conscious Leader understands that the job is to empower others.
I believe it was Eleanor Roosevelt who said it beautifully: “A good leader inspires people to have confidence in the leader, a great leader inspires people to have confidence in themselves.”
A Conscious Leader understands that it’s not what she/he says, it is what she/he does that makes the difference. A conscious leader lives the phrase “Be the change you wish to see in the world”.
Self Mastery, reflection and introspection are not easy - otherwise we’d all be doing it - but they do make the difference.
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. Then it would stand to reason that this applies not only to those in formal leadership positions, but also to anyone who acts like one.
My job is to help and support others to do that work and walk their authentic paths with awareness.
If you wish to explore these two concepts further, I invite you to check out this video from Peter Anderton. https://lnkd.in/dm8vjW7
Let me know your thoughts and please feel free to reach out to me if I can help you in any way.
With love,
